About the role

We’re seeking a creative, resourceful, and culturally engaged Freelance Content Producer to develop original content that connects our films, filmmakers, and mission with audiences across digital platforms.

This is a hands-on creative role for someone who understands how to turn stories, cultural moments, and ideas into compelling short-form video and multimedia content.

The ideal candidate is equal parts storyteller, producer, and editor, with a strong instinct for what resonates online. We’re looking for someone who can move quickly, identify opportunities, and produce content that feels authentic, timely, and engaging.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, produce, and edit original short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
• Create compelling content around film releases, filmmakers, talent, cultural conversations, and current events.
• Develop original content formats, recurring series, interviews, and behind-the-scenes features.
• Produce promotional videos, trailers, teasers, and social-first edits using existing film assets.
• Capture and edit content at screenings, premieres, festivals, interviews, and special events as needed.
• Identify trending conversations, cultural moments, and creative opportunities relevant to Watermelon Pictures.
• Collaborate with the social media manager and marketing team on campaign concepts and execution.
• Write engaging hooks, scripts, captions, and creative treatments.
• Repurpose long-form interviews, discussions, and film footage into compelling short-form content.
• Deliver polished, platform-ready content on tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience producing digital content for entertainment, media, publishing, or culturally focused brands.
• Strong video editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar software.
• Demonstrated understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging content formats.
• Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to develop creative concepts independently.
• Experience shooting video, conducting interviews, or producing on-location content.
• Ability to identify compelling moments and turn them into highly engaging content.
• Strong awareness of film, entertainment, culture, and social issues.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables.
• Familiarity with Arab cinema, Palestinian storytelling, or independent film is a plus.

Engagement

Freelance, with opportunities for ongoing collaboration across multiple film campaigns and Watermelon Pictures initiatives. Occasional travel or event coverage may be required.
