What you’ll do

• Build the development slate across theatrical film and original programming for Watermelon+
• Find and option IP: books, articles, podcasts, life rights. Develop original concepts that fit the brand.
• Package projects with talent, writers, and directors. Put together the pitch decks, lookbooks, and sizzle reels that get investors to write checks.
• Walk into rooms and present the slate to financiers, equity partners, and co-production partners
• Build real relationships with agencies, management companies, writers, and directors. Not just take meetings. Actually know people.
• Shepherd projects from idea to greenlight: creative notes, writer rooms, script development, all of it
• Work with production, acquisitions, and the Watermelon+ team so the slate serves both theatrical and platform strategies
• Spot co-production and pre-sale opportunities that help finance the slate

Required

• 7+ years in film or TV development. You have credits on things that actually got made.
• You already know people at the agencies and management companies. This isn’t a networking-from-scratch role.
• You’ve packaged projects and presented them to people with money
• Your creative instincts work across commercial and prestige tones
• You want to build a slate, not manage someone else’s

Preferred

• Time at a mission-driven production company (MACRO, ARRAY, Participant, Makeready, or similar)
• Agency or management background with development exposure
• Familiarity with Arab, MENA, or diaspora storytelling and talent
• Experience developing for both theatrical and streaming
